Title: What would you like to see us come out with next?
Post by: DB on February 22, 2017, 04:35:05 PM
What would you like to see us come out with next?

What would you like to see us change? DB9,DB380,DB15,DB300 ie grip style, handguards, you name it.

Just a heads up, we are working on the 6.5 grendel, 7.62x39, 6.8 spc, 338 FED, 6.5 creedmoor.

DIAMONDBACK FIREARMS really appreciates all of your ideas and the support you've shown (even during the hard times) Thank you and we look forward to hearing yalls ideas, even the crazy ones CHRIS!

I always wanted to see the 7.62x39 uppers, and you bought into it! Yes! Too bad I just finished a 7.62x39 build, or I'd be all over it. Check it out at http://commonbullets.com/wp/archives/2155 (http://commonbullets.com/wp/archives/2155)

Note the upper receiver. It's a side charger and I believe it'll be the next boon for the AR platform. This particular one needs no custom bolt carriers or pins. Works with any bolt carrier as-is.

Note the barrel. Full target crown, custom designed bolt that's 35% beefier, and a matching barrel extension. This came from AR15Performance, and it's been super accurate. I haven't shot it yet after adding the side charger, and I couldn't break the hex bolts free to remove the charging handle in order to face the receiver. Hopefully it's square to the bore, but we'll see on the next outing. I would normally face the upper enough to align the gas tube within torque specs, and that would also square the face to the bore, assuming the barrel extension ring is also square and precision ground. In this upper's case, the gas tube aligned properly at 40 ft.lbs of torque, so within specs. Hopefully it's square.

I've been using C Products 7.62x39 magazines and they've been great.

I'm also glad to see the 6.5 Grendel on the list. But boy, talk about price shifts. You can get Russian Grendel ammo just like the steel cased 7.62x39 and at about the same price, which is great! However, make the jump to 6.5 Grendel in brass cased ammo, and you're suddenly close to a buck a shot. Ouch. Two different animals, as well, with the 7.62x39 being a close range offering, say out to 300 yards, where the 6.5 Grendel is a high velocity round that is great for long distance precision shooting. Guess it just depends on what you're wanting to do with it. For hunting most popular game, the 7.62x39 would be my choice.

TulAmmo has re-introduced to America, via SG Ammo, the 124 gr 8M3. That's their fragmenting bullet that works as advertised. Check out the gel videos. Just awesome for self defense rounds. Massive permanent wound channel with a total penetration of about 14". I also see this as a great hunting round, but no experience with it in that role.

Bottom line here... DB is paying attention and producing what the consumer's want. Just awesome. However, I still can't convince Cody to make me a pocket DB10. What could go wrong??

A double stack DB 9 and DB 380.  I believe you should do this because so many folks want more than just a six shot semi.  The DB 9 and 380 is so light, I think it would be perfect for this - as the added weight should not put it up so high as to lose business because of weight.  It would also a bit more size to the grip, making it easier to shoot.

That or fix the mags that you already have...with grip extensions that would include the pinkie finger (as in the Pearce grip extensions) and fix the springs so folks don't have to spend more $$ on Wolff springs.

And night sights like Catfish stated!

Added:  slide lock - to get those pesky FTF out when they jam in there so tight
(last round hold open would also be helpful, but a slide lock won't add that much more weight)

How about a plus one grip extension for the db380
Title: Re: What would you like to see us come out with next?
Post by: SteveQinKC on March 29, 2017, 11:19:17 AM
Nothing Exotic, very simple, a plus one mag for the DB9, so my pinkie has a home, that matches the OEM grip pattern/stippling of the DB9 .

Also helps the DB9 compete on a feature for feature basis with Shield, Nano, etc.

The two mag extensions on the market now just don't cut it, the Pearce extension isn't well designed and the other one on the market from ccw mfg is well designed but cost is $40 each. At $40, it should already come preinstalled on a spare mag at the very least, or two extensions for that price?  Bet DB would have a higher margin % on an extended mag than you get on the guns themselves!

PS - My DB9 wish list also includes a tritium front sight, painting them with Glow On just doesn't cut it.

I'd also love to own a .243 Ar produced by you guys! It'd be sick!
Would also REALLY REALLY REALLY like to see some precision triggers and some weight reduction in the ar platforms, doesn't have to be groundbreaking!

I'd like to see an AK-rifle/pistol 7.62 x 39mm built by Diamondback.

I'm new to the DB9's but own two now, an "E" and an "H"....great pocket pistol!

Another vote for a DB9 pinky extension, and these are different companies, but it would be great if you worked with Techna Clip to get them to make a left handed version for the DB9, and with ArmaLaser to make a TR series sight.

Anything special about the bolt, like 9310 aircraft quality steel? And, is it a "type II" bolt (.136" recess)?

A DB12! A fully functional AR platform in 12 gauge with 10-15 round mags. There have been others who have tried but never very successful. Could be a big seller with Law Enforcement. Same muscle memory for patrol rifle and shotgun. As a LEO and firearms instructor, I would be very happy to see this. One less system to teach new officers.

I would like to see a compact version of the full size db9 fs. Make it available in 9mm and 380.

Also a larger single stack 380. There are many who have less hand strength and who can't handle the recoil of a 9mm. Something similar to the Ruger LC380 but with a better trigger and better ergonomics.

How about a DB9 with extended mag, night sights, ported barrel, Cody tested, and a last round lock back?  Wait a minute, I have one of those...except for the lock back.  Okay, how about my DB9 with a last round lock back?  I would buy it again.

Thank you DB!!!

I don't want porting but agree on everything else.  I also realize there is a reason that the last round lock back wasn't designed in, as the weight of any metal parts like a slide release, would have exceeded the overall weight goal, pushing it up nearer competitors like the PF9.  However, I too would be willing to bear that small increase.

I don't understand their reluctance on producing a matching +1 extension, their profit margin on it would be almost as much as what they make on the entire pistol, turning a bunch of past customers into buyers again, without having to find a whole new customer.  If it doesn't come stock, it doesn't add to their weight spec, yet overcomes a whole lot of objections versus the competition, like a Shield, Nano, LC9, PF9, that have that extra round.  They need to hire me to grow sales, I'd be happy to move to Florida, winter is getting closer here in Kansas City.

Everything I said back then still stands and has been proven by Diamondback when you started selling the CCW mag extension on the DiamondbackFirearms site for a more reasonable $ 29, and it sold out.  It doesnt take a marketing genius to figure out there is clearly a $30/mag market for a 7 round mag!  How hard would it be to design the matching extension and have the supplier who is already supplying the molded polymer flat mag bases, make a run of matching extensions? Its not about the round count, its about giving your pinkie a home.

Replacement trigger springs stronger than factory ones for my DB9. Galloway made them and quit. I have had several failures to reset. I spread the factory ones a little wider apart and that has done the trick for now. But who knows for how long?

Question for a DiamondBack Rep:  With this thread started back last 2/17, has any of these requests been implemented?  I have been watching this thread for a year, as I am interested in a DB9, but was curious if any new features have been added, thus creating a Gen3?  Thanks!  -Tim

We came out with the AM2, even though its still going through some changes. We released the DB1547 (7.62x39). The DB9 is still going through some changes. Some things take a year or sometimes longer to plan and test new ideas. We still have a few things in the works so stay tuned.

Thank you for your quick reply.  With a "few things in the works," do you have a timeline on releasing any info about the new DB9 version?  I'm very interested in purchasing one,  pending on how long of a wait for the new release to be revealed.

If you're still looking for suggestions, how about the capability of adding a Crimson Trace to a DB9.

We released the DB1547 (7.62x39).

Thanks!  I noticed from the specs that the twist is 1:9.5

Why?  I thought the heavier the bullet weight the lower the twist (value).  For example, a 55 grain 5.56 round likes the 1:9, but a 77 grain would perform better with a 1:8.

This seems to go the other way.  I'm just learning this stuff so I welcome more information.

I would say nay on the extended beavertail, but maybe if it were modular and could be removed or replaced.

What I would like to see more than anything else in this world... is a small polymer auto chambered in .22LR in the size of something like a DB9 ot DB380 that holds 10-12 rounds.

There are no quality 22LR pocket autos available other than the Beretta 21A, and it's almost as wide as a Glock doible stack and limited to 7 rounds. If you want something tiny your only options are cheap, heavy zinc alloy framed guns like the Phoenix Arms HP22 or the Jennings J22... neither of which inspire confidence in their design or quality.

If you guys could make a quality 22 auto it would sell tremendously well. I'm one of those capacity guys and I know I would gladly carry 10 or 12 plus 1 in 22lr versus 6 plus 1 in .380 ACP in a similar size gun.

They do. I have one that I built myself and love it. I went with a side charging handle and an AR15Performance barrel and bolt (they no longer make them). Anyway, nary a failure of any type, and very accurate, even with cheap Russian ammo (I think I pay about 23 cents each).

Here's my 2cents:

What about A 9 mm pistol Caliber Carbine in the slim fashion form of the DB9; something to compete with the Kel Tek SU 2000, TNW Aero and Ruger 9 mm.

A lightweight takedown pistol caliber carbine at an affordable price!   If the design form is done in the slim manner of the DB9, it would be a cool survival rifle. How about a light weight, easy to pack with reliable Flip up  sights, simple adjustable stock & ammo storage.

A 9 mm pistol caliber carbine does not need to look like an AR!!!

Nice one!  Make it a breakdown too!

I bought the Ruger PC9 when it came out.  I really like having a carbine the same caliber as my handgun.
