1911 Carry Options?
« on: July 18, 2017, 03:22:31 PM »
I probably never will conceal carry my new Ruger 1911 10mm, but the thought of being able to is enticing. Maybe on special occasions where I wouldn't have to work on computers? Oh, I know, shopping at Walmart or pumping gas at Fast Freddie's Gas and Chili Dogs? This 1911 is a little slimmer than my 10mm Tanfoglios, and I even have a compact version in 10mm. Still not a pocket gun, tho.

One of my best friends, a retired Police Major carries a tiny 380 as a "get off me" gun and likes it because he can carry it anytime, anywhere. It's way better than a sharp pencil or 'sharp car keys', and realistically, not a bad option for anyone unless you're involved in a bad area big shootout, but that's where you'd bring your rifle.

But still, can I carry my 10mm 1911 concealed regularly? I'm thinking no way, that's what my tiny 9MM's are for, the DB9 being the smallest and not have to think about it gun. Anyway, just looking for opinions and experiences carrying full size autos.

That's why I love my 380s. I had a couple of Colt 1911s. They are in my opinion some of the best looking and shooting pistols around. Unfortunately they are just too big and heavy for me to carry on a regular basis.

I carry my FS9 and SR9 anytime I go out except for work.
I carry in a OWB leather pancake Galco FLETCH or DeSantis Speed Scabbard at 3 o'clock.
Either open carry or with a regular t-shirt it is easily covered.
They ride high, tight to the body with FBI cant.
Just picked up another thumb break holster for the SR9
