Considering another DB9

I have purchased 4 DB9s (gen2s) in the last several years but sold them all. Finish turned me off-slide coating, kinda weak front sight post, general construction, nagging concern about mag issues, dimpling of chamber rounds.

Now I am reconsidering. I think it a mistake with no clear indication the mag issues have been resolved by Diamondback, let a lone an employ even acknowledging the issue on this forum. Yet...I wonder.

A 5th, a DB9SL this time, the charm?

Do it, you can carry it every day and have it when you need it. Mine has never had an issue with any of the 3 mags and fit and finish is perfect for a daily carry pocket gun for the price. I did "splurge" for the stainless slide. :)

It will never be a target pistol or a show fun, but it's perfect for having it if I ever need it and not upset if it takes some wear and rear over the years.

I like my Gen 2 EXO!  It runs flawlessly  with the factory recommend ammo.

EXO vs the two stainless version...what's the verdict and why?

EXO is plated with Nickel Boron. looks like stainless.  It does not cost any extra and is supposed to be a very durable finish. The SL model is the stainless steel slide. MSRP is the same for both. Stainless costs about $40 - $50 more when you order one on line.

Time to decide if I need to grab some other 124gr hollow points and 115gr FMJ.

HST and Lawman 124gr is my stocked preference. Since they appear to possibly not work, I'm likely going to pick up:
135gr Hornady Critical Defense,
115gr Hornady Critical Defense,
115gr Gold Dot,
Remington 115gr JHP,
American Eagle 115gr FMJ,
90gr Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator or Underwood equivalent

And a few mags--still need to pick up the Kel Tec PF-9 mag springs?

Be sure to run 100 or so of those FMJ rounds through it first to break it in. Mine liked the Blazer Brass 115 FMJ pretty well. Also the Hornady standard Critical Duty 135 gr might be a bad choice for 3" barrels. (see video)

If you get the 124 grain Federal HST to run through yours without issue, that would be my first choice. I use the PMC 115 grain JHP in mine with full confidence, but I'd like to see other offerings that work as well. I purchased some Federal UMC 115 grain JHP's to try, and I believe they'll be very similar to the PMC offering. The fun part in all of this is experimenting with ammo that works well through the DB9. It would be nice to have a sponsor, tho. LOL
