DB15CB Twist Rate
« on: April 18, 2018, 02:28:49 PM »
I bought a DB15CB new in the box a little over a year ago.  I have enjoyed it very much.  After looking at it again on the website, it shows that the barrel has a 1:8 Twist rate.  The barrel on mine is stamped with a 1:9 twist rate.

Is the website wrong about the twist rate?  Is my barrel stamped wrong?  Did they put the wrong barrel on my rifle?

It really isn't a huge issue, but now I am just curious.

I asked the same question and DB assured me that it's a 1:9 twist.

Strange.. I wonder why they would advertise them as a 1:8 on their website and catalogs.  I probably wouldn't be too happy if I had ordered one thinking it was a 1:8, but I bought mine at a gun store and new the barrel was 1:9 when I bought it.

The 1/9 twist rate should be ideal for common 55 and 62 grain bullets. 62 grain and heavier, you'd ideally want 1/8 twist, as that twist rate will cover a wider range. 1/7 will favor heavier bullets (75 or 77 grain). Either way, if you shoot 55 grain off-the-shelf ammo, try several brands to see which provides the best accuracy given their powder loadings.

Yep, I actually only buy 55 grain and have had great luck so far.  I really don't mind a 1/9 twist for what I use it for.  Also not complaining because I read the barrel before buying and knew it was going to be 1/9.  Just thought it was strange for the website to state that the model ships in 1/8 twist.  Also wanted to make sure that my barrel was in fact 1/9 and isn't stamped wrong.
