Db9 Gen 4 First Observations
« on: September 02, 2020, 11:00:08 PM »
I was specifically looking for a pocket pistol to replace a NAA .32. Wasn't looking for a hip carry as I HR218 carry on my hip a Para Carry 6.45. I purchased a DB9SL on Saturday based on the size, weight, and fact it was +P rated. Took it to the range and fed it 4 different ammo brands: Herters 115g FMJ, Speer Gold Dot 124g +P, Sig Crown 124g, and Winchester 147g HP. I encountered zero malfunction or mis feeds. I then mixed all the above into a mag and again no issues. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in regards to snappy recoil. I think I have found my new pocket pistol !

Does any one know if there is an updated PDF user manual for Gen 4 ? I noticed the one on site for DB9 still warns that it can't handle +P.

Thanks
Pat

I don't think so.

Looks like today this is a link for Gen 4.  https://diamondbackfirearms.com/wp-content/uploads/pistol-manual.pdf

The only difference is the section that used to say "Don't use +P..." (or something to that affect) now states: "USE ONLY AMMUNITION OF THE PROPER CALIBER, AS SPECIFIED ON THE FIREARM"

I wouldn’t use +P. Just my $.02

I totally agree. Just because you could, doesn't mean you should. Be more concerned about control and follow up shots. If you know you can only get one shot in return, then a 10mm is your friend (so to speak).  :main_good:

Any rationale on why not ?

Was the 380 rated by maufacturor to handle +p ?  4th Gen is specically rated for +p whereas early models were not.

380 isn’t rated for + P

Tried two more types of ammo, Browning 124 gr fmj round nose and Winchester 115 gr silver tips. No problems with either.
