Not zero interest.  I've been looking at the sale at DB right now. 16 inch barrel and a lower kit for about $370.  Been thinking about a DB10 in 300 BLK.

Trouble is I've been looking at the 243 caliber lately and I like the  ballistics.  Wonder why they don't make a AR flavor in that caliber?

Yeah, that's what most say, and what I don't understand.  It's only slightly larger in diameter than 223 of course, but the typical weight is around 95gr.  So those that complain about the tiny pill of the 556 should not be complaining about the 243.  Then there is the velocity.  223 velocity is around 2800 FPS.  243 is at least 3400 FPS.  So double the mass and another 600 FPS.  Seems like a devastating round.  7.62x39 has a much larger bullet but slower speed.  The energy of the 243 approaches the 7.62.  Seems like the 243 would be a more popular round (in terms of ballistics) than the 7.62.  So I just don't understand why the shooting community is pretty silent on the round.  It's basically a 308 casing necked down to 6mm.  Seems like a flat shooting (fast) round with more punch than the 556 and more velocity than the 7.62. 

I need an AR in 243!

A 243 would work in the AR10 platform, but my thought is why not just shoot 308 unless you're going for less recoil (a plus for many). 308 can be had much cheaper than 243 ammo, unless you get into match offerings. For now, you can buy steel case 308 ammo on the cheap. Great for plinking and range use, then buy the 'good' stuff to sight your scope and go hunting. It seems converting to 243 is just a barrel swap, much like going from a AR15 5.56 to a 300 BLK. My favorite rifle is still my AR 7.62x39 build.

Since I haven't seen a 243 offered in any AR type platform, I guess the industry agrees with you.

At Midway right now, the cheapest 308 is the steel case at 40 cents.  243 is at 53 cents for brass on sale.  The hunting rounds are also fairly close but I'll concede the point.  If there were a large contingency of 243 shooters the price would likely come down on that round though.

I guess I'm just looking for where I can go to get the high velocity and a little heavier bullet.  .243 has the velocity and at least more weight than the .223.  .308 has plenty of mass but pays for it in velocity.  The energy is fine but the drop at long range starts to be a problem.  I like a really flat shot.  I guess .270 would start to make sense, but again, no AR platform.

I hear the armed forces are looking at 6.8mm for a new rifle.  That's about the .270.  I don't know what the casing is supposed to be.

.308 is cheap on Ammoseek.com . I'm with you, though, a .243 would be awesome for my old guy shoulders.

     There is at least one AR 10 upper in 243, however it's a little pricey, and I have read about issues with cases getting banged up during ejection. If you really want lower recoil and high velocity with great long range 1k to 1400 yards then why not go with the 6.5 Creedmor

I like the Creedmoor ballistics.  You make a good point.  I guess my only concern is the availability/cost.  It is getting more attention these days.  I should probably look more into it.

     I'm with you and now that the 6.5 has gained huge attention from the PRS shooters and everyone is now making a rifle for the cartridge I've noticed the ammo cost is beginning to come down. So it's time for me at least to jump onto the 6.5 bandwagon. I would like to move to a bolt rifle in 300 Win Mag, but due to back issues I'm concerned about recoil which a decade ago would not even been a consideration. By the way I really like my DB10 in 308, so I may just drop the $500.00 or so for the 20"6.5 Creed complete upper so I can do the cal switch and keep both uppers ready to go no bolt swapping or other such slowdowns. I'm also looking at one of the 6.5 full Chassis bolt guns to see if I can make it to the mile marker, I realize the Creed drops below supersonic at that range, so grouping or consistency at that range would be tough, but at 1K yards it seems to be easy to keep MOA.
